5 out of 5 starsBeautiful, one of a kind, custom hand made desert ironwood scales for my Civivi Elementum Fixed Blade knife. Great communication before and during fabrication. I got to select which cuts of wood were used. Mick kept me informed as he fabricated the scales, including photos of the process. I am extremely happy with this purchase, and highly recommend CinciKnifeScales to anyone thinking about customizing and improving their knives!

5 out of 5 starsThe walnut scales are perfect. Everything fits tightly and the scales make the knife very comfortable and pleasing in the hand, unlike the original sandpaper-rough scales that came with the knife. This seller does excellent work and is very professional.

4 out of 5 starsBeautiful scales, they look great. I did have to inlet the pocket clip in order for the screws to engage.
Mick responded on Jul 10, 2023
I was unable to determine what the real issue with the clip was here. Longer screws were provided with the scales, but buyer doesn't remember if they used them? Pictures in the listing show the provided screws and the clip installed with no issues.

5 out of 5 starsAnother beautiful piece of work from Mick. This scale was a custom order based on another scale and he wasn't able to test the fit on the full knife, but the scale fits the knife perfectly and the pattern between the heartwood and sapwood gives it an interesting appearance.

Frequently asked questions
Knife scale finishing
I like to use natural non-toxic finishes like pure tung oil or beeswax depending on the wood. The natural texture of smooth wood feels great in hand, better than plastic poly finishes imo.
Scales may require additional oil or wax periodically to protect from moisture or drying out.
If your scales do get wet and feel rough or fuzzy after drying, you can lightly smooth them out with a high grit sandpaper ( 2000 or higher recommended) or fine steel wool, then reapply oil or wax.
Squid Scale Installation
If you are having any difficulty tightening the pivot screw down enough to center the blade due to slippage you can use a rubber glove to keep pressure on the smooth bolt head as you tighten the screw. This can sometimes occur when the wood surface is very smooth and finished with wax.
Wood Types
A good source of information about the appearance and properties of different wood types is available at the Wood Database:
